“Deeply hued, this is an amazing Pinot Noir that shows off the richness and depth of the 2009 vintage in California. The aromas and flavors come in waves of raspberry, blueberry, cranberry sauce, cinnamon spice, white chocolate and anise. The plush, velvety mouthfeel is seductive, and the spiced berry fruit lingers. “Achieving balance in life can be challenging, and the same is true in winemaking, particularly when it comes to aging wines in oak barrels. Here is a wine that has attained a virtually perfect balance between the fruit and oak impressions. Opaque purple in hue, with some violet streaks, it has a fleshy plum and currant aroma, joined by nice wood spices and a sharp pomegranate edge. With time in the glass, the aroma morphs to that of a freshly baked cherry pie. The wine — aged in Burgundian French oak barrels, 70% of which were being used for the first time — is clean and fruity, all the way to the lingering sweet fruit finish that echoes... and echoes.” - Glen Fredericksen

Patz & Hall typifies many small wineries, seeking out unique sites and producing up to a dozen single-vineyard wines. Each of those vineyards is treated as an individual wine."
