Gaps Crown Vineyard

2009 Sonoma Coast

< Back to all Pinot Noirs

This wine presents a medley of appealing aromatics that includes mulled clove notes, lilac, cedar, fresh baked bread, molasses and a hint of perfume. The palate is beautifully extracted and lushly fruit driven, with juicy layers of cherry, red apple and cranberry. While this wine is showing big tannins that will likely make this one of our most cellar-worthy wines of the vintage, the tannins are fine grained and nicely underscore the power and intensity of the fruit.

Accolades

  • 92+ Points | "Deep ruby-red.  Slightly medicinal but expressive aromas of crushed blueberry and wet stone.  Sweet, pliant and deep on entry, with a distinctly chewy texture and noteworthy tension to the flavors of dark berries, red currant and pomegranate.  Then more penetrating on the back half, delivering the strong acidity of a cool site.  This very young pinot finishes with building tannins and should reward a few years of cellaring." - Stephen Tanzer
